Although a Celebrant-led ceremony is NOT a legal ceremony, it is everything you would expect from a wedding with readings, vows, rings etc. To cover the legalities, you just need to have a basic ceremony at a Registry office where you say the formal words in front of 2 witnesses and sign the documents. You don’t have to exchange rings or even think of it as your “wedding day”. It is simply a case of getting the official paperwork done.
Contact your local Registry office to arrange your legal ceremony. You can book it either before or after your Portuguese ceremony; it really is up to you!
Simply let your venue know you have booked me to be your celebrant (some venues have their regulars). I will then make contact with them to discuss the practicalities. You and I will be in touch regularly so that once your Big Day arrives you will know just what to expect and feel confident that the ceremony is exactly what you hoped for.
It's a great way to celebrate getting married without the worry of restrictions or hassle of paperwork. It can take place either before or after your 'legal ceremony' leaving you free to have it whenever, however and wherever you choose.
